Activities for families and children are designed to stimulate creativity and introduce participants to expressive languages and artistic techniques, providing tools from which they can begin to develop their own creative path.

The workshops are led by experienced educators skilled in making technical knowledge accessible and engaging. Each activity is linked in turn to current exhibitions, the Museum’s collection, a particular work of art, or the exploration of a specific technique.

Activities are generally subject to a fee, except for those organised on special occasions.

Dreams and Surreality: Chance, the Unconscious and Automatism – Activity for Children

Saturday 12 and 19 September, 3 and 17 October, 4.30 pm

A journey through works that seem to have emerged from a dream: mysterious landscapes, unexpected juxtapositions and impossible figures guide children on an exploration between reality and imagination at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea.

Looking at works associated with the theme of dreams—from the suspended atmospheres of Metaphysical Art to the inventions of Surrealism—we will discover how twentieth-century artists embraced chance, the unconscious and creative freedom. Along the way, children will try simple exercises inspired by automatism and Dada games, culminating in the free gestures of Jackson Pollock’s action painting.

An activity combining observation and experimentation, inviting children to discover that art can also mean “not controlling everything” and allowing room for the most unexpected ideas.

The workshops are intended for children aged 6 to 11.

Cost: €10 per child.

Duration: 90 minutes

For information and bookings: prenotagalleria.cultura@orologionetwork.it

Advance booking required. Bookings close at 12 noon two days before the activity.

Maximum 25 participants. Activities take place with a minimum of 6 participants.

Another Life for Things – Activity for Families

Sunday 13 September, 11.00 am

Every object has a story. Even those that are broken, forgotten or set aside. Through creativity, even the simplest materials can be transformed into something new. “Another Life for Things” is an experience combining art and creativity, designed for children and families. An interactive tour among works from the collection, followed by a hands-on workshop, will encourage dialogue, practical engagement and ecological awareness.

Together, we will explore what can be done with what remains and what is discarded. We will discover how contemporary art can offer a way of looking at the world and caring for it, beginning with even the smallest gestures. Finally, we will take part in a printmaking workshop using discarded packaging materials, creating new images and meanings through the transformative power of art.

The workshops are intended for families with children aged 4 to 11.

Cost:

€10 per child + 1 adult (admission ticket not included)

€8 per child + 1 adult for annual pass holders

€5 for each additional accompanying adult (admission ticket not included).

Duration: 90 minutes
