The GNAMC Library and Archives, currently housed on the basement and lower-ground levels of the museum and temporarily closed to the public for urgent regulatory compliance works, are at the centre of a major redevelopment and relocation project to the new Study Centre in the Cosenza Wing, designed by architect Mario Botta.
The new space, covering more than 2,000 square metres, will house the Library and the Archives—Photographic, Bioiconographic, Historical and Historical Fonds—providing renovated, accessible facilities designed to ensure improved access to and consultation of the documentary heritage dedicated to modern and contemporary art.
In keeping with the principles of the Piano Olivetti, the project enhances the integration of cultural spaces and promotes broader, more effective access to the Galleria’s heritage.
