Library

Established in 1883 to accompany the museum’s emerging art collection, the Library of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art was founded with the mission of documenting the development and evolution of modern and contemporary art. It remains an essential place for those who wish to research and study the creative work of artists.

The current layout, designed by architect Costantino Dardi and built between 1988 and 1991, provided the Library with staff workspaces, reading rooms for researchers, and a large storage area suitable for book preservation.

Since 1998, the Library has been part of the Italian National Library Service (SBN), within the University of Rome La Sapienza network.

The catalogue is available online.
