Art Nourishes Me

A creative experience integrated into therapy, where art becomes a means of self-expression and emotional awareness.

In & Out. Dentro al museo, fuori dagli schemi (Inside the Museum, Outside the Box) is a project conceived by the Educational Services of the Galleria Nazionale in collaboration with the social cooperative and non-profit organisation Mio fratello è figlio unico. It is designed for autistic children and young people. Its aim is to create an inclusive and stimulating environment within the museum in which autistic children and children with typical development can take part together, fostering the greatest possible degree of inclusion.

Based on the “circle up” model, the project seeks to create connections by bringing into dialogue everything that is “inside” with what lies “outside”: outside the museum, outside the norm, outside conventional frameworks. It does so by placing welcome and inclusion at the heart of the experience. The Galleria Nazionale, its works and artists, children and young people with and without cognitive and relational difficulties, caregivers, parents, museum staff, exhibitors, volunteers and professionals all participate fully in this social environment, with no one taking precedence over another, on the basis of equality, independence, autonomy and cultural fulfilment. Over time, the aim is to foster an emotional bond between the museum, its special visitors and those accompanying them.

Each participant receiving support from the centre will have the opportunity to invite a classmate, friend, neighbour or peer to share a memorable experience at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea.

The programme is tailored to the individual needs of each participant and includes monthly visits and activities of a playful and creative nature, offering close engagement with works of art.
