Portraits and Self-Portraits

Recommended for primary school groups

Through the eyes of Van Gogh, Rodin, Courbet, Pistoletto and other key figures represented in the Galleria Nazionale’s collection, participants will explore how we represent ourselves and others, and how a portrait can convey not only outward appearance but also character and inner emotions through choices of colour, expression and posture. How do others see us, and how do we see ourselves? During the visit, participants will examine works from the collection, looking for similarities and differences in relation to their own bodies. In the workshop, each participant will create a self-portrait intended to reveal an aspect of their personality that might otherwise remain invisible.

Duration: 2 hours
Cost: €150 per class
