Tempio, Azione, Movimento to Rome. The work was produced by Corepla, the National Consortium for the Collection, Recycling and Recovery of Plastic Packaging.

From 7 November to 8 December 2025, the work will be on view in the Central Courtyard of the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. The inauguration will take place on the occasion of the presentation of a special issue of Interni magazine dedicated to the capital, entitled “Roma, eternal change”.

Measuring 6 × 6 metres at its base and 5 metres in height, the installation consists of six columns of different diameters, translating the classical principles of firmitas, utilitas and venustas into a dynamic structure in which the columns—traditionally symbols of stability—become movable elements that visitors can shift and rearrange. A collective ritual thus becomes a tangible metaphor for the ever-changing nature of human relationships:

“With TAM TAM. Tempio, Azione, Movimento, we began with the idea of the Temple, transforming it into a dynamic organism, capable of adapting and responding to the needs of those who inhabit it. For us, architecture is not simply a question of form, but of relationship and sensory experience. Our intention was to create a space in constant transformation, one that stimulates interaction and allows every visitor to become an integral part of its evolutionary process. Architecture thus becomes an open dialogue, a continuous encounter between the individual and the environment that hosts them, where context and lived experience become intertwined in a process of mutual transformation.” — explains Junko Kirimoto, co-founder of Alvisi Kirimoto.

The white of the structure embodies the idea of the work’s potential, as though it were a blank page yet to be written. By leaving the surfaces free of colour and superfluous decoration, Alvisi Kirimoto shifts attention towards the dynamic elements—the movement of the columns, visitors’ gestures, and the voids that emerge and are filled—in order to emphasise the essence of space and, above all, the centrality of human experience.

Produced from recycled plastic in accordance with a design approach attentive to the life cycle of materials, the installation TAM TAM. Tempio, Azione, Movimento, according to Corepla President Giovanni Cassuti, “presents itself as a manifesto for circularity: a symbolic and tangible gesture that invites us to reflect on our relationship with the environment, the value of resources and the role that art can play in fostering a new and renewed collective awareness.”

With its arrival in Rome, TAM TAM confirms itself as an installation in motion: an itinerant and versatile project, capable of adapting to new contexts and reinventing itself over time through the use of fully recyclable materials.

Credits

Project
ALVISI KIRIMOTO

Production
COREPLA – Consorzio Nazionale per la Raccolta, il Riciclo e il Recupero degli Imballaggi in Plastica

Structures
Buromilan

Installation
Primo Tasco

Tube processing
Plastica Cesena | PlastUp

Tube painting
Ideal Verniciature

Video
6ix Floor

Photography
ph.
